I got up at 4am on Sunday morning with no idea what the weather was going to be like or where I wanted to be when the sun came up. It’s not like me to not have some sort of a plan but that’s where I was at 4. I ended up on the docks in Cowichan Bay with a lovely nautical twilight. I made my way over to the Cowichan River Estuary for the sunrise but didn’t end up with any shots that really did anything for me. I did get wet feet though!
My drive to experiment with different genres of photography has taken me on a pretty interesting journey. Last year I explored photographing dancers in motion with stroboscopic flashes. It was almost an afterthought during one of those photo-shoots that we tried capturing some jumps in the dark. The athleticism of these artists never ceases to amaze me. Here are 3 images on the incredible Nicola Jackson at work!
So many beaches and just not enough time! Here’s a long exposure image taken at Brooks Point Regional Park on Pender Island this Saturday. A one day spring storm blew though the Salish Sea. It knocked out power and cancelled a few ferry sailings. It also made for some nice long exposures!
What do you do when you wake up at 5am on a Saturday and you really need a photography fix but you have things to do all day? You hit the sunrise at Pipers Lagoon and are back home by 7:30am!
