Where would all of us landscape photographers in Nanaimo be without Piper's Lagoon and Neck Point Park? I was keeping an eye on the weather all day in hopes that all this wind might blow away the precipitation and blow in some nice evening light! So I dodged raindrops and spray from the waves to take a few long exposure images down at Pipers Lagoon tonight. I photographed right up until dark and was rewarded with some beautiful moments to capture. I have to admit that I blew all of my favorite shots by not paying attention to my focusing and ended up with some really nice colorful soft images. Oh well, it keeps you humble and on your toes the next time!
This is a long exposure done without any ND filters. It was just that dark out.The camera settings were: 152 second exposure at F18, ISO 50.
This image was taken in almost complete darkness. The camera settings were: 30 second exposure at F5, ISO 800. I always have loved how much our digital sensors can see when our eyes can barely make out shapes!
