As I was driving down Dickinson Road this morning, on my way to work up-island, I saw a sign saying there was a Nanaimo Hornets Rugby game later in the day at 1pm. I made a mental note of that and luckily made it back into town right around 1! Now I have to admit that photographing sports is a guilty pleasure of mine. I always try to imagine that I am covering the game for some media outlet and then photograph it like I'm getting paid for it (without the soul-crushing pressure of actually depending on it for a living)! It was an overcast day, which is certainly better for sports photography than bright and sunny. But it kept getting darker and darker, and as the game went on, my iso crept up from 640 to start to 2000 (hence the graininess). As always the Hornets put on a great show. And I really like photographing Rugby anyways. The player's facial expressions and the wild scrums are so much fun to photograph! Here are the final 13 images that made the grade out of about 500 shots taken!
