A couple of weekends ago I ended up at the Big Qualicum River on a foggy winter morning. I was there looking to photograph birds gathering along the banks to feast on the last of the salmon runs. One juvenile Bald Eagle was oblivious to me as it ripped apart a salmon carcass and let me get right down to a great position on the river bank. The fog was heavy and I’ve tried to convey that in my images. On the West Coast, the salmon means life to so many species of animals.
